A. PROBLEM TO BE EXAMINED:

Which Planetary Combinations indicate occurance of diseases Dengu and Chikun Gunya.

B. SIGNIFICANCE & NEED FOR THE RESEARCH STUDY:

Time has come when people have realized the power of divine science Astrology and its uses for various parts of our life including Health. Medical Astrology is the subject yet to be explored by contemporary Astrologers in modern terms. Diseases like Dengu and Chikun gunya have gained importance in the last one decade due to the increasing number of deaths caused by Dengu and severe joint pains and other health problems due to Chikun gunya in the last two years.

As a curious astrologer, I also was initiated to do the research on the horoscopes of some Dengu and Chikun gunya patients by my respectable Guruji Sh. K.N.Rao Sir in Oct’06. On getting motivation by my Guruji to expand my research to more & more such horoscopes, I did the tedious job of collecting correct horoscopes of seventy two patients in three months period. For this, I also want to thank my research classmates & other students of B.V.B. who gave me valuable data of horoscopes of many Dengu and chikun gunya Patients of their acquaitenances.

I applied the astrological principals as per guidance from my Guruji, & found surprising results proving many principles of astrology (in today’s scenario even)  as given in the classics which are many thousands years old.             

C. BACK GROUND INFORMATION:

Both these diseases spread due to the viral infection in blood caused by the bite of Adis ( a female)mosquito.  As per AVAILABLE INFORMATION from Docters, Books & Internet and other media channels, some relevant details are as follows:

DENGU:

Adis Mosquito in climates having temperatures below 16’ Celsius spread in clear stagnated water. It bites in day time. The viral infection causes Dengu.   

Dengue disease is of three types.

1. Dengue fever - it has classical features moderate grade fever,apperancce of typical rash on 5th day
2. Dengue hemorrhagic fever - it has 4 characteristic features ; high grade fever , haemorragic phenomenon , signs of bleeding , features of collapse
3. Dengue shock syndrome- it has features of circulatory failure

CHIKUN GUNYA:

Chikun Gunya means “ that which bands up i.e.  doubling Up”

Its Symptoms are:

• High Fever
• Joint Pains
• Headache
• Vomiting feeling/ Nausea
• Rashes on Skin

There is no medicine for this disease as yet.

D. Choosing the Planets Mars, Ketu, Sun, Moon and Venus for testing as the causative Planets:

MARS: 

Mars is the Karaka for blood, Vitality & vigour in Astrology. In medical astrology terms, it has been chosen for significator of haemoglobin, eruptive fevers, etc. As these diseases occur due to the fall of platelets level of blood due to viral infection caused by Mosquito bite, I have choosen Mars for checking its role in causing the disease.

KETU:

Ketu is the Karaka for Worm/ insect bite as well as Viral diseases. As Mosquito bite plays the main role of causing the viral infection in blood of the patient, we have choosen Ketu as the next main planet, whose role was to be tested for causing this disease.

SUN:

Sun is the significator of health in Vedic Astrology. In Medical Astrology terms, it is the significator of fever.  These diseases start with the onset of fever to the native and then level of platelets goes down, if necessary treatment is not taken for the disease. Thus, Sun’s role was also tested.

MOON:

Moon is the Karaka( Significator)  for Water in Vedic Astrology. These disease are caused by the mosquites that breeds in stagnated Water. Thus, I chose Moon also for seeing its role in the spread of diseases.

VENUS:

Venus is the Karaka Planet for females in Astrology. These diseases are caused by the bite of a female mosquito, namely Adis. Hence, Venus was also choosen for seeing its role in causing the diseases.

ROLE OF LAGNA:

Lagna is the significator of physical body of the native and general health. As in these diseases, body in whole is affected by fever ( both diseases) and rashes also ( in Chikun gunya ) only, relation of Lagna / Lagna Lord is checked with MD, AD &/or PD Lords.

As our Guruji, Sh. K.N.Rao Sir says, that Pratayanter Dasha Lord is the implementer of the event, planned by the Antar dasha Lord and Controlled by the Maha Dasha Lord, relation of  PD Lord with the following is checked:

1. Single malefic influence ( P.A.C.) is not taken as major affliction.

2. If the planet is doubly afflicted in all the four divisional charts, then it is taken as afflicted.

3. If the planet is afflicted in two charts only, then its nakshatra is checked:

---- If  natural malefic lordship of Nakshatra is found, then the planet  is taken as  afflicted.

---- If  natural benefic lordship of Nakshatra is found, then the planet  is taken as  unafflicted.

4. Despositer of malefic planet is also checked while analyzing its influence on the planets.

C----Role of Mars and Ketu is checked keeping following in view:

             HOROSCOPES OF 3 PATIENTS:

I Horoscope:

Birth Details: Male, 10.3.1953, 0312 Hours, Azamgarh (U.P.)

Case History: Got Hospitalized for Dengu Fever in Oct’06 first week for two days. He got allopathic treatment and got cured in two days.

ASTRO-MEDICAL ANALYSIS:

1. Native is born in Saggitarious lagna, Vargottam Navansha & Uttar Ashada Nakshatra of 9^th Lird, Sun. Lagan Lord, Jupiter, in Bharini Nakshatra, is placed in 5^th house with with 6^th & 11^th Lord Venus. Eighth Lord Moon is in Lagna
   & is in Ketu’s Nakshatra aspected by 2^nd/3^rd lord Saturn , which is retrograde also. All these combinations show that although native have strength to fight with the diseases, but due to the position of Moon, aspect of retrograde Saturn & LL’s relation with functional malefic Venus, he is destined to suffer from some health problems during the adverse dashas.

2. Saturn is in Mrityubhaga also & is aspecting the LL and Moon & Venus.

3. Moon is afflicted being in Ketu’s nakshatra & having aspect of Saturn.Moon is in Jupiter’s Dreshkona & giving the indication to get protection from long periods of diseases.

4. At the time of sickness the Vimshottari Dasha was of Rahu / Mer / Venus:

      Any native gets sick only when there is relation of Lagna / LL with any of the  

       three dasha Lords.

In this horoscope, we find that the PD Lord Venus is in conjunction with the Lagn Lord Jupiter.

5. During sickness, Char Dasha was of Aries / Taurus / Virgo:

Lagna sign Saggitarious is aspecting Virgo the Pratayantar Dasha sign.

6.  During Sickness, Yogini dasha was Pingla/ Pingla / Ulka, thus Lords of MD/ AD/ Pd will be Sun /Sun / Saturn: Saturn is asecting Lagna.

7. Vimshottari dasha PD Lord’s relation (P.A.C.) in D1, D9, D12, D30 , primarily with 6/12 Houses, secondarily with 3/8 Houses , or tertiarily with 2/7 Houses:

Venus is Pratayanter Dasha Lord giving Dengu disease to native.

In D1:

Mars is conjoined with retrograde Mercury in fourth House. Mercury is the AD Lord.

Conclusion : All the parameters / Hypothesis is checked and outcome is positive.

                     Native was destined to be treated for health problems related to Blood infection.

II Horoscope:

Birth Details: Male, 23.10.1996, 0605 Hours, ShivPuri (M.P.)

Case History: This boy, aged 10 years, was detected of Chikun Gunya fever on 10^th Oct’06 . He got allopathic treatment and got cured in seven days.

ASTRO-MEDICAL ANALYSIS:

Native is born in Libra lagna, Vargottam Navansha & Chitra Nakshatra of 2^nd / 7^th Lord, Mars. Lagna Lord, Venus, in Sun’s  Uttar Phalgun  Nakshatra, is placed in 11^th house with with Mars & is being aspected by 3^rd/6^th Lord Jupiter from 3^rd House.

Eleventh Lord Sun is in Lagna & is in Rahu’s Nakshatra.

Saturn placed with Ketu in 6^th House of diseases, is retrograde also. All these combinations show that donot have much strength to fight with the diseases due to the absence of any benefic in Kendras & Moon is also aspected by Mars, the Marak planet for Libra Lagna. Thus, the boy is destined to suffer from some health problems off & on in Life.

Ketu is in Mrityubhaga & is aspecting Mercury, the 12^th Lord ( House of hospitalization).

Moon is afflicted being in Rahu’s nakshatra & having aspect of Mars & venus. But as Moon is in Mercury’s Dreshkona & giving the indication to get some protection from long periods of diseases as Mercury is exalted in D1 as well as D9..

At the time of sickness the Vimshottari Dasha was of Jupiter / Venus/ Rahu:

Lets see relation of Lagna / LL with any of the three dasha Lords for seeing the onset on disease.

In this horoscope, we find that the AD Lord Venus is the Lagna Lord also

During sickness, Char Dasha was of Libra / Libra / Libra:

Lagna sign is all the three dashas sign i.e.Libra, having GK Sun which shows period of diseases during Libra dasha. 

During Sickness, Yogini dasha was  Ulka/ Ulka/ Bharamari, thus Lords of MD/ AD/ Pd will be  Saturn/ Saturn / Mars.  Mars is conjoined with Lagna Lord Venus.

Vimshottari dasha PD Lord’s relation (P.A.C.) in D1, D9, D12, D30 , primarily with 6/12 Houses, secondarily with 3/8 Houses , or tertiarily with 2/7 Houses:

Rahu is Pratayanter Dasha Lord giving Dengu disease to native.

In D1:

----Rahu is sitting in 12^th House.

In D9:

            ---Rahu is in 8^th House

In D12:

 ----Rahu is aspected by 2^nd / 7^th Lord Mars

III Horoscope:

Birth Details: Male, 17.6.1992, 1705 Hours, Delhi.

Case History: This boy, aged 14 years, was detected of Dengu Fever on 28.9.06. He was not showing improvement despite treatment by good docters. His parents consulted our Guruji, Sh. K.N. Rao Sir & he recommended “Mahamrityunjay Mantra Jaap “ to be done by his close relatives, as situation was seen as critical by him.

He got allopathic treatment and got out of danger in more than fifteen days.

ASTRO-MEDICAL ANALYSIS:

Native is born in Scorpio lagna, Leo Navansha & Anuradha Nakshatra of 3rd / 4^th Lord, Saturn. Lagna Lord, Mars, in Ketu’s  Ashwini  Nakshatra, is placed in 6^th house alone & is being aspected by 2nd/ 5^th Lord Jupiter from 10th House.

Sun, Venus, Ketu & Mercury are in 8^th House in Gemini.

Saturn, the PD Lord is retrograde also. All these combinations show that although native has strength to fight with the diseases due to the placement of LL Mars in own sign , aspecting Lagna and is itself aspected by Jupiter, at the time of adverse dashas, he may be critically ill.

9^th Lord Moon is also aspected by 8^{th/ 11th  Lord} Mercury. Thus, the boy is destined to suffer from some acute health problems during the dashas of Saturn, Moon and Venus.

No Planet is in Mrityubhaga.

At the time of sickness the Vimshottari Dasha was of  Moon / Venus/ Saturn:

Lets see relation of Lagna / LL with any of the three dasha Lords for seeing the onset on disease.

In this horoscope, we find that the PD Lord Saturn is 3rd Lord.

During sickness, Char Dasha was of Libra / Virgo / Virgo

Virgo is aspected by Gemini which is having GK Venus.

Libra is aspecting Jupiter the MK, which in turn is aspecting Aries where LL Mars is placed.

During Sickness, Yogini dasha was  Bhadra/ Ulka/ Sankata, thus Lords of MD/ AD/ Pd will be  Mercury / Saturn/ Rahu.  Saturn is AD Lord & is in LL Mars Nakshatra.

Vimshottari dasha PD Lord’s relation (P.A.C.) in D1, D9, D12, D30 , primarily with 6/12 Houses, secondarily with 3/8 Houses , or tertiarily with 2/7 Houses:

5. TO WHOM WILL IT BE USEFULL

In general, this research will help in fore-warning against this disease the general public all over the World, the people who have the planetary combinations of these diseases in their horoscopes,  so as to allow them to take extra precautions for  saving themselves from the onset of this dreaded disease in future adverse dashas. These diseases are more prevalent in countries having a specific climate which is suitable for the proliferation of Adis mosquito, through which the virus of these diseases spreads. Some of such country names are India, Malaysia,etc. People residing in these countries or visiting these countries, if have the planetary combinations for these diseases should either avoid visiting these countries during adverse dashas or take necessary suitable precautions.

From the point of view of learning the super-science Astrology, this research will benefit  all the astrology Lovers, professionals as well as novice.

6--------FINDINGS / OBSERVATIONS:

• Mars role in causing the disease by checking its relation to Lagna / Lagna Lord /MD Lord / AD Lord &/or PD Lord is seen in 94.37% cases.
• Ketu’s role in causing the diseases by checking its relation to Lagna / Lagna Lord /MD Lord / AD Lord &/or PD Lord is seen in 87.73% cases.
• Affliction on Sun is observed in 59% cases.
• Affliction on Venus is observed in 60.56% cases.
• Affliction on Moon is observed in 76% cases.
• Mrityubhag Planets were there in 60% cases.
• Retrograde Planets were there in 70% cases.
• Lagnas: 

• -------Watery Sign (4,8,12) : 20 Cases
• ------- Airy Sign ( 3,7,11)    : 19 Cases
• -------Firy Sign   (1,5,9)       : 18 Cases
• ------- earthy Sign ( 2,6,10)  : 14 Cases

• Maximum ( 11 Horoscopes) have Scorpio as lagna, Gemini, Libra & Leo Lagnas are for 8 horoscopes each.
• Lagna Nakshatra’s Role

• ----- Saturn’s Nakshatra: 10 Cases
• ----- Ketu, Venus & Moon : 9 cases each.

• PD lordship is od Saturn in 18 Cases & Venus in 14 Cases.Malefic Lord ship for Pratayanter dasha is observed for 53.5% cases.

7--------CONCLUSIONS:

Ø     Mars role in causing the diseases Dengu and Chikun Gunya has been proved.

Ø     Ketu’s role in causing the diseases Dengu and Chikun Gunya has been proved.

Ø     Affliction on Sun has shown that weak Sun is the indicater of poor health and native may suffer from diseases during adverse dashas.

Ø     Affliction on Venus has shown that weak Venus is the indicater of diseases caused by females during adverse dashas.

Ø     Affliction on Moon has indicated that people with weak Moon in their horoscopes are more prone to diseases caused by Water.

Ø     Mrityubhag Planets are indicators of bad health and their influence on the planets or dasha lords( P.A.C.) can result in the suffering from diseases to the native having any planet in Mrityubhaga.

Ø     Retrograde Planets role proved that a retrograde malefic planet or a retrograde benefic planet in the influence of a malefic has an effective role in causing diseases dengu & Chikun Gunya.

Ø     Lagnas:  People having Watery and Airy signs as Lagnas are more prone to fall sick by the diseases Dengu & Chikun Gunya.

Ø     People having Lagnas in the Nakshatras of Saturn, Ketu, Venus or Moon are prone to the diseases Dengu & Chikun Gunya.

Ø     Malefic Lord ship for Pratayanter dasha may give diseases.

8--------RECOMMENDATIONS:

Ø     As this Astro- Medical research has found out the role of Mars and Ketu as the two major causative planets for causing the diseases Dengu and Chikun Gunya along with the other findings, research on finding the causative planets and other planetary combinations for causing other common diseases should be done by collecting and analysising horoscopes of patients of other diseases.

Ø     This not only help in forewarning people to take the precautions against the diseases for which they are prone to fall sick as per their “prarabh” or destiny but it may also help the Docters in preventing the mis- diagnosis of many unknown diseases.

Ø     It is a small attempt made for the social- benefit keeping in mind my limitations of ignorance of the diseases. But it can definitely help in guiding the people in knowing the onset & outcome of the diseases to which they can be prone as per the promise in their horoscopes.
